Massachusetts Alcohol Sampling and Tasting Laws
Last checked: November 6, 2026 (statute loaded).
This is not legal advice. It is a plain-English summary of public law. Rules change and local governments often add their own. Verify with the state agency linked below before you plan a tasting.
- A store with an all-alcoholic-beverages package license "may provide, without charge, on-premises sample alcoholic beverages tastings" of products it sells. Spirits samples may not exceed one-quarter ounce.
- The statute names the licensee and does not address outside agencies or supplier staff pouring.
Verify
ask the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission (ABCC) in writing before anyone other than store staff pours.
