Rhode Island Alcohol Sampling and Tasting Laws
Last checked: November 6, 2026 (statute loaded).
This is not legal advice. It is a plain-English summary of public law. Rules change and local governments often add their own. Verify with the state agency linked below before you plan a tasting.
- A Class A retail licensee may hold free sample tastings of products it sells: spirits at one-quarter ounce per sample, no more than two spirits products per tasting, one sample of each product per consumer. Wine, beer and spirits tastings may not run at the same time.
- The statute grants the right to the retail licensee.
Verify
with the state Department of Business Regulation before any supplier or agency staff takes part.
