Texas Alcohol Sampling and Tasting Laws
Last checked: November 6, 2026 (TABC Form L-PR loaded).
This is not legal advice. It is a plain-English summary of public law. Rules change and local governments often add their own. Verify with the state agency linked below before you plan a tasting.
- A Promotional Permit (PR) lets the holder promote alcoholic beverages, including on licensed premises, on behalf of a distiller, brewer, rectifier, manufacturer or winery with whom it has a contract.
- A copy of every such contract must be available at the event.
- The permit holder gives every agent or employee working promotional events an employment card (name, employment date, permit holder, permit number), and staff must carry it at events.
- The applicant and its staff may not have a financial interest in another TABC permittee or licensee beyond the promotion contract.
